The Battersea Pie Station, the fledgling concept led by James Stephenson, has opened its first store outside of London – at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent. It is the second location for Battersea Pie Station, which opened its first store earlier this year – a 22-cover restaurant in London’s Covent Garden. The venture was founded by Stephenson in 2007 and has previously operated at festivals including Glastonbury and Bestival. Stephenson said: "We aim to create the best pie and mash in the UK while becoming Kent's number one destination for the best of British. The traditional pie and mash is steeped in history, which we have adapted with our extensive menu, catering to a more cosmopolitan population." Bluewater is the second largest shopping centre in the UK with 27 million visitors each year.
