Tim Bacon, the Living Ventures founder, has secured the first site he ever owned in Manchester for a further opening under New World Trading Company brand - The Botanist.

The group, which is on target to add five more sites to its estate this year, has secured the JW Johnson’s site (now Label) in the city’s Deansgate area for an opening later this year.

Bacon originally acquired the site when he moved to Manchester in the early 1990s, selling it in 1996.

Work is already underway on the former Living Room site in Chester for an opening in early April.

Bacon told M&C Report that this will be closely followed by the opening in Manchester and then openings in Birmingham, Glasgow and London, which are all new-builds.

The group is believed to have applied to operate a site under its The Botanist format in Cheltenham House in Birmingham’s Temple Street

Earlier this year, the Living Ventures and Hill Capital backed business, secured a new bank facility of £2.2m from Lloyds Banking Group to aid the growth of its four-strong pub estate.

It plans to grow from four sites to 15 or 20 sites over the next three years.
