Applebees, the world’s largest casual dining chain, is to make its debut in the UK with the first site to launch in Leicester Square in March 2010. The US company has acquired the former Planet Hollywood site in London’s Trocadero and will open it as a 340-cover Applebees. Applebees has more than 1,990 restaurants located across the US, as well as Canada, China, Latin America, the Middle East and Greece. The group will join casual dining chain Ruby Tuesday’s, which recently announced plans to enter the UK after signing a franchise agreement to open five restaurants in Southwest England and Wales over the next four and a half years.
