French actor Gerard Depardieu, who owns two restaurants in Paris, has produced a recipe book called Ma Cuisine which extols the sensual pleasures of cooking.
He reveals how he likes to talk to and stroke a pig before killing it so that the animal dies peacefully "without fear contracting its muscles".
Depardieu, star of Cyrano de Bergerac, also owns his own vineyard.
