A-Z Restaurants, the Italian chain that runs the Spiga brand, has taken over a former Signature Restaurants site in Holland Park, West London.

Giuliano Lotto, managing director of A-Z, which now has eight restaurants, including two Spigas, said the 60-seat restaurant, formerly known as Raccolto, will be renamed Edera.

He said its acquisition was in line with the group's policy of expanding in London, but outside the West End.

Lotto said A-Z had looked at buying the Shi Hon Mei restaurant owned by his former business partner Claudio Pulze's Cuisine Collection, "but although the price he was asking was very fair, we could not afford it."
