Research company Allegra predicts the market will grow by 6.3% by 2003 in terms of new outlets. But it warns that "certain pockets of London may already be saturated".
Caffé Nero has added 2.5p to 52.5p on its AIM debut. The chain plans to raise its number of outlets from 58 to over 100 during the next 14 months.
