The Athenian, Ahi Poke and The Vurger Co. have joined the line-up for Canary Wharf Group’s Wharf Kitchen market hall concept.

They join Caribbean street food business Mama’s Jerk, and fried chicken and waffle shop BIRD, which MCA has previously reported on, as well as Japanese street food operator Rainbo.

Wharf Kitchen will be located in the lower mall at Jubilee Place, and is due to open in November.

The Athenian recently signed up to open in Boxpark Wembley, which will be its eight site after the Wharf Kitchen opening.

The new addition will make it six for Ahi Poke, while The Vurger Co. opened its first permanent site earlier this year, before securing an additional funding £600k in funding from private investors this summer to expand the business.

The Vurger Co co-founder Rachel Hugh told MCA that a portion of the funds it raised over the summer would go towards the opening of the Canary Wharf site.

“We are absolutely delighted to be a part of Canary Wharf’s new adventure with The Wharf Kitchen. We have lived and worked in the area for over 10 years so feel right at home,” she said.

”We will be serving up Canary Wharf’s first all vegan restaurant offering, with juicy and delicious plant based burgers, fries, shakes and our infamous mac n cheese.”
