Simon Anderson is to leave his role as chief creative officer of Market Halls after helping found the business in 2018.

The Market Halls co-founder is setting up a restaurant and brand consultancy where he will offer his expertise gained from 14 years working in hospitality to food start-ups.

He will continue to work with Market Halls as a consultant.

“It’s been one of the biggest honours of my career to take Market Halls from an idea on a piece of paper to the market leader it is today,” Anderson said.

Anderson co-founded Market Halls in a bid to bring to the UK the communal food halls found in Asia and America.

He spearheaded its growth, opening the first hall in Fulham in 2018 followed by a second in Victoria.

Its third and largest Market Hall opened in London’s West End at the end of last year.

Since its launch, the business has served more than two million customers.

During his time at Market Halls he helped restaurateurs including Roti King’s Sugen Gopal and Flank’s Tom Griffiths to create restaurant offshoots.

Prior to Market Halls, Anderson was co-owner of London barbecue restaurant Pitt Cue Co and was a director and investor in Dangerous Don Mezcal.

He is also owner of Soho-based gallery space 15 Bateman Street.
