Pubs have been warned to prepare for rules on displaying tobacco products which means from April they must not be on open display.

Pubs can continue to sell cigarettes from April and will be eligible for help from tobacco companies in making their displays compliant.

Public health minister Jane Ellison said:  “The ending of open displays of tobacco in supermarkets has already come into effect. With only five months to go before the legislation applies to all shops and businesses selling tobacco, I strongly encourage retailers to start preparing for the changes now.”
