The Government has confirmed that the Neighbourhood Planning – which will remove permitted development rights for pubs – will come into force before Parliament is dissolved.

The bill is now expected to pass today, including the revised amendment on permitted development rights, which allows pubs to extend restaurant use of the pub without requiring planning permission.

Greg Mulholland MP, who originally pushed for the amendment, said: “This is an important protection and one that will save many pubs across the country. It has been a long campaign to get this this Bill in place and I thank the many people who have supported it along the way and, in particular, Lord Kennedy for taking up the fight in the House of Lords.”
