Wasabi, the London-based sushi and bento chain led by Dong Hyun Kim, is to ramp up its regional expansion plans, including the launch of its first airport site, M&C Report understands.

The 38-strong company, which will open soon at Lakeside, has secured a site at Luton Airport for an opening early next year and also a unit at the Lion Yard Shopping Centre in Cambridge.

It currently operates two sites in Leeds, plus a unit in Bluewater.

The chain, which was founded in 2003, will open its second site in New York at 7 Westfield World Trade Center next March.
