Tossed, the salad bar concept, is to open its first site outside London at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, as it looks to take its estate to 10 units by the end of the year. The chain, which was founded by Vincent McKevitt in 2005, currently operates eight sites in the capital but is believed to have secured a site in the redeveloped Wintergarden area of the scheme that is set to re-open this October. It is also thought to have secured a site at the La Plaza scheme in London’s Bankside. At the start of the year, McKevitt said that he hoped to add three new sites to the group in 2012, with one outside the capital. He said that although growth had been slow, it had been largely unaffected by the recession with trading like for likes up by “double digits” in 2011.
