Subway has opened its 27,000th store worldwide in Ealing, West London. The site, which opened on 17 January, is owned by multi-unit franchisees Vishal Kakar and Farris Al-Naqeeb, and reaffirms the Subway’s position as the world’s largest sandwich chain. The group, which has over 850 stores in the UK and Ireland, also announced it recently opened its 6,200th site outside the US. The company, which opened 20 new stores on average every month in the UK during 2006, plans to open 2,010 sites by 2010 in the UK.
