Subway is the fastest growing eating-out brand in Europe in percentage terms, having grown its sales by euros 340m, or 65%, in the last 12 months.

The company aims to have 5,000 locations open by 2010 between Ireland and Russia, with the majority of that expansion focused on the UK, Germany and Spain.

Rostik, owned by Yum! Brands, was the second biggest grower, building sales by euros 195m, or 44.4%, in the last year.

Third was Caffe Nero, the UK-based Italian coffee house, with sales growth of euros 103m, or 38.8%.

Choice hotels, which has 480 sites across Europe, was the third biggest grower in foodservice, with revenues rising 30%, or by euros 187m in value terms.

Making up the top five was Group Score, the French contract caterer, which saw sales rise 26.7%, or by euros 149m. It has over 500 service contracts in France alone.
