POD, the healthy fast food concept led by founder and chief executive Tim Hall, has added three sites to its estate with the acquisition of rival Cafe Mana. The deal brings POD up to 23 sites in the capital. Cafe Mana, which specialises in “sophisticated” sandwiches, salads, soups and sushi, operates in Leadenhall, Lombard and Broadgate, all in the City. Last month M&C Report reported that the company wanted to reach 30 sites within the next 12 months, with further sites in Leather Lane, Gracechurch Street and Lombard Street due to open this summer. Turnover at POD for the year to 30 October 2011 increased from £4.8m to £7.9m, during which time it opened six new sites in London.
