Gail’s Bakery is to open its first site in the North in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on 16 February, with a further two sites secured in Manchester and Altrincham.

The Bain Capital-backed premium bakery chain will open in Manchester city centre this spring, with a 3,847 sq ft space comprising a large seating area, open kitchen, and retail bakery. It has also announced plans to open on Shaw’s Road in Altrincham later in the year.

The new venues will serve Gail’s offering of artisan breads, pastries, cakes, and savoury options, along with coffee.

In September 2022, MCA reported Gail’s was looking to make changes to its supply chain to support expansion.

While the brand currently has a central production unit and foothold in the Southeast, MD Marta Pogroszewska said the chain was taking a “tactical” approach to growth, and evolving its supply chain at the same time.

Pogroszewska also revealed Gail’s was looking to broaden its revenue channels through delivery, as well as introducing more vegan and healthy options to its range while maintaining the perception of indulgence.
