Fresh pizza concept Fireaway Pizza is set to launch a crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube.

Managing director Mario Aleppo opened the first outlet in south London in 2016, and has now grown the brand to a national chain with over 155 stores.

Fireaway already has an external investor committed to £200,000 in this funding round, and says it wants to ”give the opportunity back to our family of loyal customers to invest alongside them.”

In 2022, the company opened 39 stores and is on track to open 31 this year, having already opened 27 and with four under construction, taking the total tally of stores to 159.

”We expect this growth to continue for next year. We want to spread the fire to more people in more places”, the company said, adding that funds raised will be used to expand its central operations (warehouse space and people), brand reach, and enhance its technology platform.

The brand boasts annualised October franchise sales of £59m and HQ turnover of £14.5m+ (FY23), with no debt, and an EBITDA of £1.31m (FY23).

The company, which produces authentic handmade pizza using a recipe inspired by Aleppo’s Italian grandmother, last year secured investment from six backers – two private angel investors, two franchisees and two suppliers (1% each at £187,000.)

The fresh funding round will launch on Monday 18 December.

Mario Aleppo will appear as part of the agenda at MCA’s upcoming Food to Go Conference on 5 March. For tickets and more information, please click here.
