Domino’s Pizza is recruiting 1,300 delivery drivers ahead of an anticipated peak in pizza orders during the World Cup tournament which could top six million pizzas during June and July.

The company said that with games being broadcast at dinnertime in the UK, between 5pm and 11pm, it expects to see a sharp increase in orders for delivery.

The company said its drivers will cover 13.5m miles during the tournament. Stuart Lauderdale, head of operations at Domino’s Pizza UK, said: “Domino’s is looking for drivers with the right attitude towards service and who really care about what they do. Over half of our current store managers started out as delivery drivers themselves, so whether you’re looking to make extra cash in your spare time or a brand new career, there opportunities are there for the taking.”
