Abokado, the chain of healthy food bars led Mark Lilley, will re-open the first of two ex-Starbucks sites it acquired before Christmas at the end of next month, as it looks to increase its exposure in the City. The site at Cornhill in the City will become the chain’s 14th site, with the second former Starbucks unit in Theobalds Road set to follow before the summer. It is thought the group has a strong pipeline of upcoming openings in the capital. It hopes to operate an estate of 28 sites in London by the end of March next year. The company, which is backed by Kings Park Capital, has seen like-for-likes in February to date increase by 20%. Starbucks is currently exiting a number of unprofitable sites in central London and around the UK, including high-profile sites in Manchester and Liverpool.
