Whisky producer Whyte & Mackay is to make 85 people redundant in Scotland - following a major review of its organisation. The revelation follows Diageo’s decision that it was looking to cut 900 jobs in Kilmarnock and Glasgow. Approximately 15 of the Whyte & Mackay sales team in Scotland may also be affected. The company has held meetings over the last week with the relevant Scottish Government ministers and officials, including the First Minister Alex Salmond. John Beard, Whyte & Mackay’s chief executive said: “It is with regret that I have to announce this review and the planned job losses.”
