Free-of-tie pub operator Wellington Pub Company has reported a slight rise in turnover and small dip in pre-tax profits.

Accounts filed to Companies House show that for the year to 31 March 2015, turnover rose to £26,860,000, compared to £26,834,000 the previous year.

Pre-tax profit fell slightly to £9,032,000, compared to £9,419,000 the year before.

The company stated: “The company continues to maintain its market position and has achieved a small increase in turnover from last year despite the conditions of the industry following the global economic crisis.

“The company maintains its policy of when an appropriate offer is received on its existing properties it may look to make disposals if the outlet is not meeting internal benchmarks.

“During the year, in accordance with the company’s strategy, underperforming pubs were disposed of generating a net loss of approximately £337,000 (2014: £224,000).”
