Rekom Proud Mary Pub

Rekom UK is separating from its owner, the Danish Rekom Group, and will be controlled by its main lender ACG, the global investment group.

Under the new ownership model, Rekom UK will be renamed and trade as NEOS Hospitality.

The venues and day-to-day operations will not be affected by the change in ownership.

NEOS Hospitality will be led by chief executive officer, Russell Quelch.

Quelch was previously operations director and country director UK of Rekom, and has been with the business going back to its previous incarnations as Deltic and Luminar.

Peter Marks and the existing management team will continue in their current roles.

Russell Quelch said: “We are excited to embark on this new chapter. The team has laid a solid foundation and, together with our new owner, we are committed to further developing and growing the business and achieving success across the UK.”

NEOS Hospitality will operate 24 venues across England and Wales, including brands and concepts Heidi’s Bier Bar, Proud Mary and Bar & Beyond.

In February 2024, Rekom UK was sold in pre-pack administration, resulting in the closure of 16 venues.

The venues affected included several major PRYZM nightclubs in Nottingham, Leeds, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Watford, and ATIK nightclubs in Dartford, Romford, Windsor and Wrexham.

It followed an “extremely difficult period” for the late-night sector, with the combination of the cost-of-living crisis hitting younger generations and students, the rising National Living Wage, increased business rates and costs of operating.

Rekom acquired the UK business, then known as Deltic, in December 2020 for £10m in a pre-pack administration, after its business disappeared during Covid.

At the time ten venues were closed.
