Premium London bar group Maven Leisure is raising £2m in growth capital via Growthdeck.

The fundraise will accelerate the group’s development of new premium bars in central London, including a landmark sports bar and a rooftop bar in two of the most iconic locations in the capital.

The group, which is from the same team as ETM, currently operates a flagship bar and restaurant, Wagtail, on a rooftop on King William Street in the City of London, as well as three thriving sports bars.

This new funding round follows a period of strong growth for Maven. Established in 2021, the group saw revenue increase to £10.2m and EBITDA rise to £1.4m at the end of the last financial year.

The new venues are forecast to drive further growth.

Maven has been established by Ed Martin and the management team of ETM Group, which grew from a single site to a business turning over £33m.

The company has exciting opportunities to accelerate growth, including a flagship sports bar, Blackwood, in Piccadilly Circus in the heart of the West End, and a site for a further rooftop bar overlooking Trafalgar Square.

A 14,000 sq ft site has been agreed in Victoria, with a further bar planned prior to the end of 2026.

According to the Growthdeck pitch, the latest figures published by the Mayor of London’s office in January 2023 show over 3,500 bars and pubs in London.

Drake & Morgan, Rhubarb Hospitality Group, D&D London and Incipio are listed as competitors in the London premium bar space.
