Fuller’s has strengthened its London estate with the acquisition of the White Hart pub in Blackfriars from Punch Taverns in an off-market deal for in excess of £2.5m.

The White Hart is close to Blackfriars station and an easy walk to Waterloo. It currently bills itself as “Waterloo’s quaintest back street pub”, serving cask ales and great British food.

James Grimes, director of AG&G, which advised on the deal, said: “We knew that Punch might be interested in selling the freehold of the tied lease pub and we knew that Fullers were after exactly this type of premises, especially as business is booming in SE1. It was a rare opportunity – and everybody’s happy.”

Earlier this week, Fuller’sreported strong Q1 trading “aided by the recent spell of glorious weather”, with total sales in its managed pubs and hotels division up by 12.0% for the 16 weeks to 20 July 2013.

Like for like sales were up 10.0%, said Fuller’s, “with food and accommodation sales showing very strong growth, demonstrating good underlying momentum”.
