Domino’s UK like for like sales were up 6.1% for the first half of the year to date.

Driven by increased order count prior to and during lockdown, like for likes were up 6.1% from 23 March 2020 to 14 June 2020, and up 4.8% from 31 December 2019.

As the business implemented a number of measures to ensure safe trading during the pandemic – which included stopping customer collections – consumer delivery uptake “more than offset the lack of sales for delivery,” however total order count did decline in the period.

The business saw a slightly weaker performance in Ireland – lfls down 7.9% in period from 23 March – which it equates to wider consumer spending weakness due to the lockdown being more pronounced in the region.

“I joined the Group at a time of unprecedented trading conditions and have spent my first few weeks as CEO becoming fully immersed in the business,” said CEO Dominic Paul.

“Throughout this crisis we have focused on looking after our people and working together with our franchisee partners to safely serve our customers and help our communities.

“I am proud of the performance of our system during this period, and that the vast majority of our stores have remained open. I am looking forward to giving a more detailed update on our performance and sharing my first impressions of the business at our first half results presentation in August.”
