Carlsberg is to sell the beers of Evan-Evans of Llandeilo to free trade customers in Wales. The deal marks a new relationship between the brewer and the West Wales family-run business headed by Simon Buckley. Carlsberg UK has been working with Evan-Evans to create a portfolio of specialist ales for its customers throughout Wales, including the first organic cask conditioned beer, to be called Evan-Evans organic Gold, launched this month. Rob Sandall, sales director Carlsberg UK, said: “Wales is an important trading area for us, and we know the importance of having a portfolio of high-quality award- winning Welsh beers to compliment our lager brands. “Our customers now want indigenous Welsh brands brewed in Wales, brands with a rich heritage. The Buckley family have brewed beer in Wales for over 240 years. "Tourists, when visiting Wales, want to drink Welsh beer. We have chosen Evan-Evans as our lead partner, and have been delighted with the way the brands have been received in the trade.” Evan-Evans chief executive Mr Buckley said: “This is a pioneering step forward for Carlsberg UK, and sets them apart from the competition in Wales.”
