Cabana, the Jamie Barber-led Brasilian barbecue restaurant chain, saw turnover climb 27% in the year to the end of 2015 to £10.4m, with October marking its first £1m month (net).

The nine-strong group is targeting up to 13 further openings over the next three years. It has sites lined up in Watford and Southampton for this year and will go on site in Newcastle in the next couple of weeks for a March opening.

Barber told M&C that the group was currently looking to appoint a director of property to assist in firming up its pipeline for the next 18-24 months and beyond.

He said: “2016 promises to be an exciting year for Cabana. The Rio Olympics will again focus all eyes on Brazil and we would hope to play a key role in bringing a bit of Rio to London.”

Last November, M&C revealed that industry veteran Ian Neill, the current chairman of K10 and non-executive director of Jamie’s Italian, had invested in Cabana.

Neill, the former chairman of Wagamama, who is also an investor in Red’s True Barbecue alongside Barber, made a material investment in the company.
