Big Fang Collective has secured £5.5m in funding from alternative lender ThinCats to support its expansion plans.

The crazy golf operator, founded in 2016, plans to roll out multiple new venues this year and has ambitions to secure a presence in every major UK city by 2025.

Big Fang Collective operates six sites under its Ghetto Golf and Golf Fang brands, in Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Sheffield. It also operates one Birdies Bar in Birmingham, with plans to open in Newcastle, Sheffield, and Glasgow.

In 2023, it launched an immersive karaoke concept, Big Fang Karaoke, at its flagship Liverpool venue, as well as in-house pizzeria Nothing Cheezy.

In 2022, Big Fang secured a £5m investment from Imbiba, whose other investments include F1 Arcade, Vagabond Wines, Farmer J, and Pizza Pilgrims.

The Big Fang Collective team commented: “Following a successful year in 2023, including the launch of our all-new Big Fang Karaoke concept and first in-house food brand, Nothing Cheezy, we are excited to further accelerate our venue growth plans with the support of ThinCats and our investors, Imbiba.

“We now have heads of terms signed across three major cities and a strong pipeline for the coming year. With the right people, property and funding now in place, we are set to make 2024 our best year yet.”

Mike Dinnell, director for business development at ThinCats, said: “It is fantastic to be involved with a business like Big Fang who clearly have a strategy to grow their brand across the UK. The management team has an ambitious vision and are really pushing the boundaries of the crazy golf experience. I am excited to see their continued growth and to be on this journey with them.”
