Deliveroo has reshuffled its senior team with Rohan Pradhan the new chief operating officer, and Caleb Merkl taking his previous role as head of Deliveroo Editions, MCA has learnt.

Pradhan has overseen Editions since May 2016, and will take over from Roy Blanga as COO, who is leaving the business.

Merkl founded the David Chang-backed, New York-based food delivery start-up Maple, which ceased trading after it was acquired by Deliveroo in May 2017.

He and 15 members of Maple joined Deliveroo after the acquisition, with the start-up’s technology integrated into Deliveroo’s platform.

As VP of Special Projects Merkl will oversee a team tasked with exploring and incubating new initiatives and business lines including Deliveroo’s Editions which operates a global network of delivery only kitchens.

Will Shu, co-founder and chief executive of Deliveroo said: “I am extremely excited that Rohan is taking on the role of COO.

“Since he joined from Amazon as the VP of Editions, Rohan has grown Editions from a concept to a fast-growing commercial reality.

“His intellect, passion and his love for great food will serve him well in the new role.

“It is fantastic that Caleb will now use his experience with Maple to drive forward our Editions programme, in the UK and worldwide.”

A Deliveroo spokesperson added: “Having been instrumental in growing Deliveroo to where it is today and having led its international expansion into 10 countries, we are sad to say that Roy has decided that now is the right time for him to move on and leave the company.”
