Deliveroo has secured sites in Camberwell and Canary Wharf for its RooBox remote kitchen concept and is now working with 10 operators.
MCA understands the group is also close to securing its first site for the concept outside the capital.
Justin Landsberger, the delivery network’s UK & Ireland commercial director, said the group was in talks with major restaurant chains about operating from its RooBox sites and expected to roll out at speed across the UK in 2017.
Among the most recent operators to use the RooBox facility is Lebanese burger concept, BRGR, which currently operates two bricks and mortar sites.
Landsberger said the group was on course to have 20 RooBoxs by the end of the year, generally through leasing space in car parks.
He said: “The advantage to operators big or small is that in areas where our data shows a demand for their type of cuisine they can have a presence without necessarily paying the price of a permanent site.
“We have proved the concept and next year will see RooBox go far and wide.”
