A further two sites formerly operated by Fat Cat Café Bars, which was placed in administration in April, have been sold, M&C Report has learnt.
M&C Report understands that the buyer of the former Fat Cat Cafe Bars in central Nottingham and Derby is East Midlands-based operator Edward & Moore. Colliers International handled the sale.
Only the freehold and Fat Cat business in Leicester remain available from the original portfolio of 12.
Four Fat Cat Café Bars have now passed into new ownership including one sold to Stonegate. James Shorthouse, head of licensed and leisure at Colliers International, said: “After strong interest in the portfolio the only remaining property is Leicester which is available freehold either with vacant possession or as an investment with an operator who has already been lined up to take a new lease.”
Buyer Eddie Rathaur said: “These two fantastic, well known venues complement our existing portfolio in the East Midlands. We have great plans for both bars, building on their reputations as key parts of the city centre leisure sector.”
Fat Cat Café Bars and Fat Cat Restaurants, the companies led by Matt Saunders, were placed in administration with Cooper Parry in April.
Tyrone Courtman, head of restructuring at Cooper Parry, said: “The Fat Cat Café Bars are exceptionally popular venues in Nottingham and Derby and we are pleased to have been able to facilitate the successful sale of two of its branches. They will help us go some way towards preserving the businesses and jobs in the cities as well as enabling us to deliver a return to the company’s principle creditors in the case, which is very pleasing.”
