Tossed, the London-based salad bar concept, is to make its debut overseas after signing a development agreement to launch in the United Arab Emirates, M&C Report has learnt.

The 18-strong company, which is led by Vincent McKevitt and chaired by Welcome Break chief executive Rod McKie, will open its first site under the agreement in the DAFZA food court in Dubai Airport later this year.

It is thought that the airport site will be the first in a number of openings for the brand in the region.

It recently strengthened its link up with service station operator Welcome Break, with the opening of two further roadside sites at the Fleet South and Warwick services.

Tossed currently operates three outlets outside London in South Mimms and Birchanger Services and at Bluewater in Kent.

Welcome Break, the motorway service area operator, is set to have its food & beverage offer fully-branded by the end of April.

Speaking at M&C Report’s inaugural Food on the Go conference, chief executive McKie said that the company would add a further 20 Harry Ramsden’s sites, 20 Subway units and a further three Tossed outlets to its estate by that point.

The company worked with Seeds Consulting on its entry into the UAE.
