Tortilla, the Quilvest-backed, fast-casual concept, has secured the former PizzaExpress unit in West Hampstead for an opening next month.

The 21-strong company, which recently strengthened its management team, has secured the former PizzaExpress unit in Finchley Road, with PizzaExpress moving into a unit in the nearby O2 Centre.

The company has lined up a further four new openings for this year so far; in the Google building King’s Cross in June; Guildford in July; Birmingham Grand Central in September and Nottingham’s Victoria Centre in October, with others set to be confirmed.

It has further strengthened its management team with the promotion of Ben Eastwood, to area manager for the Midlands and the North; the appointment of Matthew Chapman, previously of Patisserie Valerie and Maison Blanc, as area manager for London and the south east; as well as Katy Stenning joining as head of human resources.

The company said these appointments have strengthened its position in preparation for the continued expansion plans to roll out a further 10 restaurants around the UK this year.
