Square Pie, the gourmet pie shop chain, aims to have grown from its current five-strong estate to 40 UK outlets by 2018 and launch internationally.

Chief executive Martin Dewey told the Daily Telegraph: “There is definitely an international opportunity for us.” He put forward South Africa and Australia as two potential markets.

Dewey also revealed that the company had signed a new contract with Ocado and Selfridges, which will see its selling its original range alongside its mini version, Canapies, in the retail market.

Earlier this month, the company reported strong trading for the first six months of 2014, with like-for-like sales up 22% across its five sites.

Dewey told M&C Report in May that the restaurants were having their “best year yet” as he looks to open two new stores this year.

It is due to open a site in Birmingham Grand Central next year.
