Turkish bakery and tea chain operator Simit Sarayi has further strengthened its London openings pipeline by securing a site in Villiers Street.

The company, which made its UK debut in 2014 in Oxford Street’s West One shopping centre, is planning to open four more sites in London by the end of the year and recently secured a site in Piccadilly Circus.

The group has secured a new 10 year lease on the Villiers Street site.

The brand, which currently operates across c150 sites in Turkey and other units in the US, the Netherlands, Germany, Egypt, Kuwait, Belgium, Cyprus and Saudi Arabia, said that it would us London as its base for further expansion across Europe.

The group opened its first store in 2002 and it now has over 200 mostly franchised branches.

The chain is best known for its freshly baked sesame-covered simits, a Turkish bagel, of which it sells 83,000 a day.
