Patrick Cox, the shoe designer, plans to capitalise on the growing popularity of cupcakes with the opening of a new bakery shop in London this September called Cox Cookies & Cakes.

He has teamed up with Eric Lanlard, the French patissier, to launch the new concept in Soho’s Brewer Street, which will serve a range of baked goods, including cakes, pastires and biscuits.

The venture is something of a departure for the entrepreneur, who rose to fame in the 1990s with his own eponymous range of shoes. He best known for his loafer designs.
