Second Cup, the Canadian coffee shop-meets-casual-dining chain, is to open five new locations in the UK by the end of the third quarter, MCA understands

The company, which currently operates three sites in the UK, said the new locations will be widespread from Putney to Harrow, to Cardiff to Kensington

This month, it plans to open one cafe on Putney High Street and one on the outskirts of Harrow’s busiest mall, St Ann’s Shopping Centre.

The group said it was actively seeking new regional franchise partners for additional area development within the UK as well as globally.

Jim Ragas, president of Second Cup International, told MCA: “We are very excited about our growth plans for the UK and look forward additional regions coming on stream in the coming months.”

The company made its London debut last summer at 216 Portobello Road. It also operates sites in Birmingham and Manchester.

The group currently operates more than 600 sites globally.

Ragas said: “We are very excited about our continuous UK expansion and can’t wait for all of the new cafes to open. Growth, quality and innovation have always been at the cornerstone of our brand and we look forward to introducing our UK guests to the Master Crafted Signature Tea program. We are already well known for our assortment of Rain Forest Alliancecoffees, delicious food, fresh cold-pressed juices, all natural frozen yogurt; it was a matter of time until we found the perfect teas to help enhance our guest’s experiences.”
