Planet Organic, the organic supermarket and café operator, is to extend to its footprint in London, after securing two further sites in the capital.

The six-strong group, led by Peter Marsh, will open later this year at the Derwent development on Tottenham Court Road alongside tea concept T2 and Leon.

M&C understands that the company has also taken a unit at the Ealing Filmworks development, which is set to come online in 2018.

Marsh told M&C the group is currently reviewing a number of other opportunities in the capital for new sites including West Hampstead and Belsize Park.

Planet Organic sells a range of specialty conveniences, groceries and grab and go meals, snacks and coffees.

The group has a niche customer profile with 65% of customers aged under 40, including 5,000 student visits each week who shop for a range of convenience health and speciality foods that meet specific dietary requirements such as non-dairy milk.

Marsh said there are now immediate plans to launch the concept outside of the capital but instead continue steady growth of one or two sites each year.

It currently operates sites in Wandsworth, Muswell Hill, Fulham, Westbourne Grove, Essex Road and Torrington Place.
