Philpotts, the artisan sandwich chain owned by Patisserie Holdings, is rolling out its evolved, less formal format called Café Philpotts within its existing sites.

The 23-string group’s site in Bennetts Hill, Birmingham will relaunch under the format on the 16 February, followed by its sites in Brunswick Street and Exchange Flags in Liverpool on 2 March.

The Cafe Philpotts concept features comfortable and stylish indoor seating.

The openings follow successful launches in Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Leeds & Manchester.

Café Philpotts offers customers a variety of food including breakfast items, artisan sandwiches and salads, roasts, noodles and Patisserie Valerie cakes.

Managing director Lisa Brook said: “Café Philpotts prides itself on being a relaxed and informal food destination. Philpotts is renowned for high quality food and now customers can enjoy this food in a relaxed, informal yet stylish setting. The extended opening hours until 5pm also reflect the need of our customers who we know are taking their lunch breaks later than the traditional 12-2pm timeframe”

Patisserie Holdings acquired the 23-strong Philpotts chain for an undisclosed sum last year, prior to its flotation on AIM.

Patisserie Holdings chief executive Paul May told M&C Report at the time that the company was looking forward to the learnings that Philpotts could bring to the company’s whole estate, especially in the lunchtime market. He said that the acquisition would help the group’s aim of operating a 300-strong estate, including 200 units under the Patisserie Valerie brand.
