Patisserie Holdings, the AIM-listed parent company of the Patisserie Valerie chain, is to open five new sites this month as it eyes a total of 12 more openings by the end of its financial year on 30 September, chief executive Paul May has told M&C Report.

The openings programme will see the group open its first site in Wales, at the St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff, in July.

Before that, the five openings for June will be at Brent Cross, Maidstone in Kent, Ealing Broadway in West London, Lakeside, and at the Beaconsfield services off the M40.

May said the group is to open 20 sites in total in its current financial year.

He described recent trading as “very good”. “I think generally the economy has been getting better and we’re seeing a bit of an improvement. It’s quite encouraging.”

Announcing plans to float on AIM in April, Patisserie Holdings said it had identified over 250 further potential sites in the UK with similar characteristics to those currently trading under its brands, and that further opportunities exist in retail parks, concessions, service stations, transport terminals and brasseries.
