Muffin Break plans to open 16 more stores in the next financial year, including its first train station site in Birmingham New Street.

The café-bakery chain told M&C’s sister title British Baker that it would be focusing on getting the concept into hospitals and train stations, as well as around the high street as it looked to expand its fleet of 57 shops.

The new site at Birmingham New Street station will open this September. In June it opened its second site within a hospital, at Lewisham University Hospital.

Furthermore, the brand said it would be launching a new idea called the ‘MuffinLab’ in 2016 - a concept that will see “new and wacky flavours” introduced to the range.

A spokesperson said: “The brand is always pursuing new sites and locations. The development team is focused on getting the new concept stores into hospitals, train stations and out on the high street.

The company opened its first retail park site in March this year.
