Maple Moose, the dessert franchise brand, is opening its next two site sin Croydon and Whitechapel as part of plans to grow its UK estate, M&C has learnt.

The group has secured high street sites in both towns to open in September, which would bring the UK estate to eight.

Managing director for Maple Moose in the UK, Hans Parker, told M&C there are further sites under offer in central London and Leicester as franchisees across the country sign up.

Parker said expansion was on target to have its forecast eight sites open by the end of two years as Maple Moose was ahead of its original target of three units in the first 12 months.

Since the franchise was launched in the UK more than a year ago venues have opened in Southend on Sea, Canterbury, Ealing, Great Yarmouth and Mablethorpe as well as a Crepe Station in Bath University. Parker said the Crepe Station, which is a whittled down version of the brand selling only crepes, generates greater crepe sales than all other outlets as it is proved very popular with students.

Maple Moose launched in Ireland in 2008 and rapidly grew to 15 outlets in high street and shopping centre locations before launching the franchise in Northern Ireland and the mainland UK.

Meanwhile Parker said there has been significant interest has come from international partners to launch Maple Moose in mainland Europe.

The product range has been enhanced to enable franchisees to sell a greater choice of savoury food including single-portion pizzas and flat breads.
