Marks & Spencer is to up its presence in the breakfast and lunch on the go market with the roll out of its Food to Go format, which it has been trialling with SSP, M&C Report understands.

The company has been trialling the format at Baker Street station since the start of 2012, but has recent launched a site at Sutton train station and is understood to have further openings with SSP lined up for Ebbsfleet International station, Winchester station and Sevenoaks station.

The format includes a selection of sandwiches, soups, ready meals and hot drinks. The site at Baker Street is only 600sq ft in size. A bacon roll is priced at £2.50, while a takeaway porridge retails at £1.30.

SSP is set to launch the first YO! to GO format siet before the end of the year on the site of the Bonapartes bar in Charing Cross Station.

SSP, the global travel concessions operator, yesterday reported a 3.3% rise in like-for-like sales for the year to 30 September 2014, helped by strong performances in UK, North America and Asia Pacific.
