Itsu, the Julian Metcalfe-founded chain, has secured a prime corner site on London’s Fleet Street, M&C Report has learnt.

The 52-strong company has taken the former Hammicks bookshop unit on the corner of Fleet Street and Chancery Lane for an opening later this year.

The group, which recently opened on The Strand, is also believed to be in talks to open in Leeds, Cambridge and Reading this year.

In August, Metcalfe told M&C Report that Itsu has the potential to increase its UK estate 10-fold and reach 500 sites. He said the group had another 30 sites in its pipeline.

He also gave more details about his plans to launch the brand in the US, naming New York and California as possible locations with openings starting “as early as 2016”.

CBRE acted on the Fleet Street deal.
