Harris + Hoole, the Tesco-backed chain, is in the process of recruiting a new finance director, after the promotion of Eleni Savva to the role of programme director for casual dining at Tesco Family Dining.

Savva spent over a year and a half as finance director at Harris + Hoole. She was previously finance director across Tesco’s group management division.

The Nick Tolley-led Harris + Hoole currently operates a 30-strong estate, but is looking to double that figure this year, with its first sites lined up in Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Kent, plus further openings in West Sussex.

The group has lined up openings in Reading, Ely, Slough, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Braintree, Chichester, Burgess Hill, Maldon, Romford, Broadstairs, Southend and Great Dunmow for this year.

Talking to M&C Report, Tolley said that he believed that in the longer term there is potential for the brand overseas, particularly in Eastern Europe.

Tesco currently operates in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

He also said that the group is getting ready to roll out payment by phone and is exploring the possibility of remote ordering so that consumers can have their coffee ready to pick up when they arrive at the shop.
