Gloria Jean’s, the Australian coffee shop brand, is building out its pipeline, with 14 new stores planned for this year.

The premium coffee shop concept, which is owned by Retail Food Group, has four sites lined up for Scotland, in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Carlisle and Ayr.

It has also lined up sites in Preston, High Wycombe, Stanford, Huddersfield, Nottingham, Chester, Turnbridge Wells, Gateshead as well as Cardiff.

The forthcoming locations include three former Pret stores, in Shandwick Place, Edinburgh; Grainger Street, Newcastle; and Albert Street, Nottingham.

Gloria Jeans has also taken two former Patisserie Valerie locations on Monson Road, Turnbridge Wells and Scotch Street, Carlisle.

The brand currently has seven sites in the UK, two Glasgow, one in Edinburgh, as well as locations in Bury, Merry Hill, Banbury and Tamworth, with many located in shopping centres.

Gloria Jean’s opened its first UK store in 2019 in St Enoch Centre in Glasgow.

It was originally founded in the US, where it now has c50 sites, and was established in Australia where it has 460 sites.

It has more than 600 stores across 40 countries, and in 2014 was purchased by the Retail Food Group for £93m.

The UK expansion is being led by master franchise partner, Naweed Nasir, director of Green Valley Foods.
