Filmore & Union, the independent café and deli chain, is understood to have lined up its first site in Leeds as it looks to expand further growth in the North East.

The four-strong group, which is led by Adele Carnell and takes its name from two famous streets in San Francisco, is believed to have secured a site in the Victoria Quarter of the city for an opening before the end of the year.

The company launched its first healthy-eating restaurant and takeaway site in Low Petergate at the start of last year, before expanding to Harrogate, Wetherby and York.

It recently launched an evening offer at the Wetherby site and is also developing its takeaway range.
