Jason Wells, one of the former owners of the Fresh Italy chain, is to expand his Brew Café coffee business after securing the Giraffe Café site in Wimbledon, M&C Report has learnt.
Wells already operates a Brew Café site in Northcote Road, Clapham and is thought to be interested in rolling out the concept further in the UK, the US and Australia from where it originates.
The disposal of the Wimbledon unit comes as Giraffe, the Risk Capital Partners and 3i-backed restaurant group, has switched its focus on three core brands going forward, after deciding to stop the rollout of its Cafe format, which it launched last year.
The group will open a new flagship site under its traditional format in Bluewater this October.
The three-strong Fresh Italy was placed into administration in 2010.
The pasta in a cup concept formerly owned by Tom Allchurch, was acquired by Wells and another Australian entrepreneurs in November 2008.
Wells has recently re-opened the former Fresh Italy on Goring Street under the new Italian fast food concept Pasta Box.
Davis Coffer Lyons acted on the deal.
