Esquires Coffee has signed a partnership agreement to open 67 stores in the south east of England over the next decade.

The agreement between Esquires Franchising (UK) and The Cracking Egg Company will take Esquires to in excess of 100 UK outlets.

Esquires also said it was in advanced stages of discussions with regional development partners for the north west of England, and in initial-stage discussions with over the north east,Wales and Scotland.

Esquires UK managing director Doug Williamson said: “Everyone’s worked really hard over the past four years to rejuvenate the brand, strengthen the operating model, and shape Esquires into a vibrant, quirky, community-centric brand. We are working with four outstanding groups at the moment, so it’s exciting to have this opportunity to scale up our expansion and see everyone’s hard work, from franchisee to field, paying off.”

Earlier this month Williamson told MCA the UK business was gearing up for groundswell years in 2018/19.

He said: “What we’ve been doing over the last year is further distancing ourselves from ubiquitous high street coffee shops, and creating our own special place in the market.

“In 2017 we came out of the gates and said ‘we’re ready to go’. The funnel was turned upside down. We are really exciting to have opened so many stores.

“2017 was a very exiting year for us, but 2018/19 will probably be groundswell years.”
