Costa Coffee has opened its first outlet with touch screen ordering.

The coffee shop chain said its Plymouth city centre outlet, housed in a former Disney store unit, has reopened with a range of “new and exciting features.”

These include touch screen ordering, a collection point for customers on the go, and a new mobile order-to-table feature with a QR code scannable on the Costa Club app.

Costa said it has “convenience at its heart” but said its baristas will continue to cater to customers who prefer counter service.

The newly reopened store also has more charging points throughout for those working remotely, as well as a new range of bakery products.

Nick Ridley, retail propositions director at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re delighted to unveil a new way to Costa at the refreshed store on New George Street. With a new bakery range, new ways to order via the latest technology, and a fresh interior for the community to come together, the uplifted New George Street store will be the place for you. We can’t wait to hear what our customers think about the new features we’re testing.”
